Overview
Experience one of Bali's most magical and romantic moments with our Tanah Lot Sunset Tour. This half-day journey takes you to Bali's most iconic sea temple, where ancient spirituality meets breathtaking natural beauty as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
Your afternoon adventure begins with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel around 2:00-3:00 PM, giving us plenty of time to explore without rushing. The scenic drive takes you through traditional villages and verdant rice paddies, offering glimpses of authentic Balinese countryside life.
Our first stop is Taman Ayun Temple, a magnificent royal temple complex built in 1634 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This architectural masterpiece showcases classical Balinese design with its multi-tiered meru shrines (pagoda-like structures) rising elegantly against the sky. The temple is surrounded by a wide moat filled with lotus flowers, creating a serene island-like setting. Walk around the beautifully manicured gardens, admire the traditional architecture, and learn about the temple's historical significance as the royal sanctuary of the Mengwi Kingdom.
The expansive gardens feature perfectly trimmed hedges, tropical plants, and ornamental ponds where koi fish swim lazily. The peaceful atmosphere makes this an ideal place for photography and contemplation. Your guide will explain the symbolism behind the temple's design and its role in Balinese Hindu cosmology.
Next, we'll visit a traditional Balinese coffee plantation where you'll discover the fascinating process of coffee production, from bean to cup. Walk through the plantation to see coffee, cocoa, vanilla, and various spices growing in their natural environment. Learn about the famous (and controversial) Luwak coffee, produced from beans eaten and excreted by civet cats.
Participate in a complimentary coffee and tea tasting session, sampling up to 15 different varieties including Balinese coffee, ginger tea, lemongrass tea, coconut coffee, and the legendary Luwak coffee (available for purchase). The plantation setting, with views over rice terraces and jungle, provides a tranquil interlude before the main event. This is also a great opportunity to purchase high-quality Balinese coffee and spices as gifts or souvenirs.
As the afternoon progresses, we'll head to the star of the show: Tanah Lot Temple. Arriving about an hour before sunset gives you time to explore this extraordinary site at a leisurely pace. Tanah Lot, which means "Land in the Sea," is one of Bali's seven sea temples, built on a massive offshore rock formation that has been shaped by ocean tides over centuries.
Walk through the bustling tourist market leading to the temple, where vendors sell sarongs, paintings, jewelry, and local handicrafts. The path winds through dramatic cliff-side formations with waves crashing below, creating a powerful and photogenic scene. During low tide, you can walk across the sandy beach to the base of the temple rock, where a holy fresh water spring emerges. Balinese Hindus believe this spring was created by a 16th-century priest, and even today, devotees come to be blessed with the sacred water.
As sunset approaches, find your perfect viewing spot along the clifftops or on the beach. The atmosphere becomes almost magical as the golden hour light bathes everything in warm tones. Watch as the sun descends toward the horizon, creating stunning silhouettes of the temple against the colorful sky. The temple's distinctive offshore location means it's completely surrounded by water during high tide, creating an ethereal image that has become synonymous with Bali itself.
The moment when the sun finally touches the horizon is truly spectacular—the sky explodes in shades of orange, pink, purple, and gold, while the temple stands in dark silhouette against this natural light show. Waves crash against the rocks, adding drama and sound to the visual feast. This is one of those moments that reminds you why Bali is called the Island of the Gods.
After the sun sets and the sky transitions through twilight's blue hour, we'll begin our return journey to your hotel. If you've worked up an appetite, we can arrange a stop at a local restaurant for dinner (optional, at your own expense), or we'll drive you directly back to your accommodation, arriving around 8:00-9:00 PM.

Cultural Significance: Tanah Lot is one of Bali's most important directional temples, protecting the island from evil sea spirits. According to legend, the 16th-century priest Dang Hyang Nirartha established the temple after meditating on the rock formation. He instructed local fishermen to build a shrine there, and legend says he transformed his sash into sea snakes to guard the temple—these venomous sea snakes still live in caves at the base of the rock today and are considered holy guardians.
The temple is dedicated to the sea god Baruna and is an important pilgrimage site for Balinese Hindus. During major ceremonies, devotees dressed in traditional white clothing come to worship, creating a beautiful cultural scene.

Contrary to popular belief, Lorem Ipsum is not simply random text. It has roots in a piece of classical Latin literature from 45 BC, making it over 2000 years old. Richard McClintock, a Latin professor at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, looked up one of the more obscure Latin words, consectetur, from a Lorem Ipsum passage, and going through the cites of the word in classical literature, discovered the undoubtable source.

I am 6 feet tall and 220 lbs. This shirt fit me perfectly in the chest and shoulders. My only complaint is that it is so long! I like to wear polo shirts untucked. This shirt goes completely past my rear end. If I wore it with ordinary shorts, you probably wouldnt be able to see the shorts at all – completely hidden by the shirt. It needs to be 4 to 5 inches shorter in terms of length to suit me. I have many RL polo shirts, and this one is by far the longest. I dont understand why.

The shirt was not the fabric I believed it to be. It says Classic Fit but was made like the older versions, not the soft cotton like my others. I don’t understand how the labels are the same but a completely different shirt. Oh well, stuck with it now.
